  1. It's that time of year again where I'm required to do progress reports. Can anyone tell me where I can find scope and sequences for each grade/subject? Thanks.
  2. I'd go with MFW. All the ones that I've looked at have give you ideas for younger ones. We'll be doing Creation to the Greeks next year 12/13 not 11/12 with a 5th, 3rd and 2nd grader.
  3. I use MUS. I'm great with Math...... As long as I don't have to explain it.
  4. I'd do Apologia. Its what I'll be doing summers with the children since we love it so much. We are doing MFW this year and it has science included so that's why the summer science. Anyways, it would take two books but it would be mostly the same material just more indepth for the 8th grader. You can chose to do the notebooks or lapbooks but it isn't required.
  5. I know someone with 7 c/s and one with 6 c/s. Both recovered very easily after each c/s.
  6. I said 1/2 to 2/3 but it is closer to 1/2 and right now it is catch up. Next year I'll be doing some CWP and some Apologia science plus some extra handwriting, plus some reading of their choice (they will have to pick it out at the beginning at least two books per week for the olders and one book a week for the youngers) I find if I don't do something, everything goes down hill in a hand basket.
  7. If they put their mind to it, 15-20 minutes, if they want to fool around, up to an hour. We do MUS. My ending 3rd grader is finishing Beta. My ending 1st grader is finishing Alpha and my PreK/Ker will be in the middle of Primer. If the almost 4th grader would stop fooling around, he will get through Delta this year.
  8. I've only used MUS I know some say it is boring but my children love it and to add fun to it, I have them color the pages to make them more colorful. It also helps them learn to stay in the lines which is a plus for me.
  9. I haven't gotten to the point where I've thought about it indepth but possibly Singapore Math. (I'll actually start supplementing that during the summer sooner only because we school year round)
  10. I've been doing my own thing for a long time and it just hasn't worked. This year I'm doing : DD 6 (on Sept 17th) : MFW K at a faster pace and then up to MFW 1st DS 7 : MFW ECC DS 9 : MFW ECC DS 4 and DD 2: I'm doing Waldorf/Montessori fun stuff with them. I cannot wait to get the curriculum and just enjoy the fact that it is mostly planned for me and I can tell at a glance if we are behind or not.
  11. We use MUS and love it. It is perfect for my children and I. Mostly because I only have to spend 10 minutes - 15 a day on math. I stagger my children so they aren't all needing to watch the DVD at the same time. I'll probably use it all the way through to Calculus but will supplement after Zeta.
  12. OP, I agree with you. Only for me, this is my fourth/fifth year homeschooling (depending on if you count the preschool one for my first that was a disaster) Anyways, after trying for four ish years to figure it out myself and not doing very well at all, I'm going with MFW this year. My almost 6 yo daughter is going to go through a rapid pace Kindergarten (I listened to some advice last year that I shouldn't have and held her back) and my 9 and 7 yo sons are going to do MFW ECC together. I'm not a morning person and I love that I can add or subtract things, but also, I am NOT creative at all. So it will help me let out my children's creative side. I'm really looking forward to the start of the year for the first time in a long time. :)
