  1. To clarify, since I was just helping a neice on a paper, in general, agnostics believe that the existence of a deity is unknowable. And to further complicate the world, a person can be an agnostic, an agnostic theist, or an agnostic atheist. I like "unknowable" as it is a richer explanation than simply no proof.

Yes, no proof to show that one exists as such. I do not believe there is a god because there is nothing to lead me to believe in one.

  2. I tried the get up and nurse them thing for the first 3 kids then I gave in and pulled them in bed. They roll over and nurse and I go back to sleep. It worked for me and they eventually weaned. Okay, maybe the last one did nurse til age 3 lol :leaving:

  3. My 6 year old was a bit like this until we removed food dye from his diet. He bounced and hopped through every lesson. That said, he is a very auditory learner and was learning anyway. Can he sit through a cartoon and tell you what it was about? You may need to get him evaluated but first explore a hard core version of super nanny on him to see if it really is beyond his control. Won't be fun but either way you need to know.

  4. Well ask yourself do you know any adults who are confused about it? That is what I ask myself about my younger son's pencil grip. Somehow it all works out I think. I wouldn't worry about it at this age.

  5. but yet we all find meaning to our existence and to our lives through that truth. However we come to it.

Yes Diane!!! That is why I feel like we are all searching for and living the same thing. We are just getting there differently.

  6. I can only comment on my sign and element. Fire and Sagittarius. I am persoanlly drawn to the color red and it is evident in my house. I painted my kitchen red with no second thought and also in my bedroom. I just recently changed it to gold and terra cotta. I cannot stand lighter pastel colors in clothing or house interiors. Fire calms me in the way some people are drawn to water. I LOVE candles and I can watch flames dance for hours and love to build fires. Not in a weird psycho way lol. I love the outdoors and crave to be outside after the cold winter months. My one child has the element of air as his element and I could have guessed that before I even looked into it. It really does ring true for all of us in my family. Colors we like, activities we enjoy.....and so forth. My water signs are drawn to water and have always been soothed by it. My fire kid always hated baths but loves heat and craves warmth through touch.

  7. Okay, I'm going to jump in the pool here, too. I consider myself a Pagan. To me, Pagans try to live in harmony with nature. I consider myself a Wiccan witch. I follow the Wiccan Rede and believe in the tenets of Wicca as a religious belief system. I also try to live in harmony with nature and draw on the energies of the world around me as a witch (the way I choose to live my life). I believe (I don't say "we" because there are so many flavors of Paganism) in the importance of caring for our environment, respecting animals and nature and Mother Earth. I believe in balance in all things; light and dark, good and bad, male and female. As such, I believe in a God and a Goddess, the masculine and feminine aspects of the Deity. I do not believe in Satan, nor do I believe that the God and Goddess are pure goodness. I think they have balance just as most people have balance. The God and Goddess have different characteristics and energies that balance one another.

Rituals are a way of drawing on the energies of the world around us. Every living thing has energy, and rituals help to draw in that energy, to combine it with our own, and use that energy to create changes in our own lives. Only in ourselves. I follow the Wiccan Rede, "An it harm none, do what ye will." I would never seek to change someone else. I can only control myself. To do a ritual, I would set up an altar with various herbs (usually in the form of incense), stones, and candles in particular colors, all chosen based on the properties of their energy (making sure those properties suit whatever my intentions are), and then use those energies with my own and asking for the energy of the God and Goddess, as well, to help me make whatever changes I seek to make in my life.

One more thing, Wiccans and witches often spell magick with the 'k' to distinguish it from the Harry Potter variety.

Well, that's probably as clear as mud. ;)

Thank you for that explanation of where I find myself today. With the help of another wonderful board member I have finally found what makes sense to me and it is my astrological sign and my element(fire). It explains my personality, my preferences in most things, and my natural tendencies. It may sound strange to some but I have never been comfortable in the christian atmosphere. I never really believed anything I was singing or saying in all my years going to church as a kid. FINALLY I have made a connection and it feels really good. Tealight enchantments are a great source of comfort for me each morning. I have a long way to go discovering where I fit in with Wicca/ Witchery but I know I am on the right path for me.

  8. Here is my short answer list:

God-idea to attribute things we can't explain to

    Satan-see above and scare tactic

What I do believe in is the chemical connection of all living things. Big bang and such. Evolution. I don't need to know what's out there in the great beyond.

Rosie you are doing a smashing job on this!

  9. I have a sub to that and I pick and choose pages for reinforcement. It is probably fine on its own but it is a lot of printing because I prefer paper in front of me. For my older kids I will link the page and have them read and do the work on notebook paper. The nice thing is that while you can only have so many books on your e-shelf you can switch them around and basically pull in anything and download it all. The pain is that they are in there lesson by lesson so the process is slow.

  10. I love it but not for my oldest. She hates to read. I will be using it(not level 1 due to too much biblical content) for my younger DD for upper levels. She loves to read and write. Not sure if I will use it with the younger boys but I will try to pull them in when she uses it beginning in 6th grade. Planning is my joy and my down time. I love the depth of the discussions even though we take a secular approach.

  11. That stupid show has really made it hard for those of us who use coupons sanely. I always shop with them but most of the stuff you can get is the processed crap. They do it all in the name of donation. Well if they can do it can't someone who is in need do it too? Grrrrr burns my britches.

  12. Is anyone out there emotionally controlled? I don't allow myself to cry very much. I think the last time i cried was like 3 1/2 years ago when I had an all out brawl with my mom and before that...2005? I think when I had a miscarriage. I hate crying and avoid it at all costs. Is it just me? I remember when my friend's house burned down everyone sat around crying and I was like WTF? Let's get the show on the road people. Life is waiting and no one died so all will be fine.

  13.

I know they said they're making the zombies look more decayed this year. I don't know, the guy that was hanging in the tree (season 2?) was still kicking and he hadn't eaten anything.

The insanity part is interesting to me, makes it more philosophical (how do you lead through that? Was he a good leader ever or just the one with experience?) Andrea needs to shoot the governor and take over.

Carl gets kind of ignored, and makes me wonder what kind of conflict that will lead to once Rick gets his stuff together and tries to be a father again.

Well he had turned after hanging himself so no clue. But really how long has even passed? It's hard to tell but at some point the normal population should start to come back, right? They just have to be sure they don't let natural deaths start another outbreak.

  14. It is beginning to wear on me. So sick of the insanity crap, the governor, Andrea grates my nerves. Exactly how long does it take for a zombie to die on its own anyway? I thought that they could die from lack of food but it took a REALLLY long time. They need to lead them all into burning pits and set traps or something.

  15. I only use it as a supplement. There are tons of links to things like music, poetry, logic games.....but as a true curriculum probably not. But it is free and she is sharing it so I pull what I think the kids will like.
