  1. It's so interesting to read everyone else's plans for the summer and how everyone thinks of their school year. We school year round and actually tend to school heavier in the summer. My dh has a seasonal job in constructin and therefore has winters off. He schools a lot in the winter months while I do taxes so I cut the schedule back to the basics for the most part for him. So I consider us just starting the new school year this past week with my 6 yo as a first grader and my newly turned 5 yo as a K'er. We are just backward with the world! :tongue_smilie: but that's the best part of homeschooling, you make it what works for YOUR family!
  2. Thanks everyone! I do have a laser printer too but it's much larger than my inkjet and we live in a camper in the summer so I have the inkjet by default :glare: I will try the website mentioned above I think. :)
  3. Trying to figure out the best value for buying ink. We tried somewhere online last time we bought and felt like it ran out a lot faster so I was wondering where you have preferred to buy? TIA
  4. What is the best iPad school planner for the $? ;) Free is best but willing to pay for something if LOTS of people LOVE it. TIA! :D
  5. How do you all find these??? I would like to participate in some of this stuff! :tongue_smilie:
  6. We bought ours five years ago and loved it, now our tenants use it and love it also. I will tell you in another 5 years if I think it's worth the money though! :tongue_smilie:
  7. :iagree: especially since you are so dilated. I walked around for a month dilated to 4 with my last one :001_huh:. I had pit with my first and it wasn't bad, but I was dilated to a 3/4 when they started it. My water had broke but no contractions till pit.
  8. Hubby and I are taking our first trip to both places(its supposed to say IKEA and Trader Joe's) on Monday and wanted to get an idea of people's favorites from there! So tell me what I can't leave the store without!:tongue_smilie:
  9. Please help me keep my head on straight! I want something that will give me reminders of birthdays, appointments, etc on my iPad and android phone. I don't want it via email as I get a ton of junk mail, I want it to be a notification that comes up when I grab my phone / iPad like Facebook does. Any thoughts?this comes after having completely forgot a bible study that I really wanted to go to and feeling like :svengo: TIA for your help!
  10. I really like my set I got about 5 years ago. Haven't had a single repair on it, and I never get an error code like previous poster. We rent our home now and the renters also haven't had a problem with it. They take longer to wash a load but less time to dry a load. They are very heavy duty. We paid about $900 for the washer with the digital display and more load options and I think around $600 something for the more basic dryer five years ago. Hope that helps! ETA: my set in the NEXXT ones also if that makes a difference.
  11. This is what I was looking for! Thanks! WhatLight, I was unable to open yours and would love to see it too!
  12. The library doesn't work well for us, we are on the move too often and not consistent enough to keep away the late fees. I just wanna have some of the books on the shelf when I am ready to use them.
  13. I have been oogling at SL and HOD because I love the scheduled aspect but can't bring myself to spend the $ and really prefer the The Well-Trained Mind way of teaching history and science. A friend introduced me to Elemental Science and I love the way it schedules out the WTM recs and gives you a 5 day or 2 day option. has anyone seen or created a weekly schedule for SOTW and associated activities and books. I just wish I could buy a package that included the best supplemental books and a laid out schedule for SOTW. :tongue_smilie: The title should have said SOTW, sorry!
  14. Why??? What did you like better about HOD?? That's all:tongue_smilie:, TIA
  15. He can make more than $3700, but he cannot provide more than half his own support. This includes fair value of the car. You do not count 1/6th the house, it's who pays for the home where he resides. If he lives in your home and didn't make a very substantial income, say around or over 10,000, he should probably be claimed by you and file his only for a refund if he paid in taxes throughout the year. I say this because you provide things like the car, home?, etc. basic needs for the student that would cost him much more than that prob if on his own. *this is all said without knowing the whole situation*
  16. I bet I am the only one whose kids have been begging to move back into a camper : ) it was home for the last 6 months and they are not adjusting well to the change. They will get their wish when it's warm enough. :tongue_smilie:
  17. If you have or have had this, is it worth it? I saw the other Otterbox thread and I am afraid the kids or myself are gonna drop this very expensive gift. I have a cover for now but thought about getting an otterbox for it eventually. Does it make it overly bulky and heavy??? Harder to use?? TIA
  18. I think we have labeled it as such more recently but all the way through history the man has done the brunt of the bread winning, wether it was ancient hunting, farming fields or whatever. Mostly because by very nature women will be pregnant and bare children. They would have had to nurse and care for the baby while young because of their gender. It is, IMHO, the way it is by nature. I am not anti-women working, I work myself while my husband is laid off in the winter and he cares for the kids and home schools because it makes financial sense and he gets some much loved time with our girls too! I agree that each family has to figure that out on their own, but in my heart I believe that by nature it is easier for MOST women, because they already have to take time out to have the baby and care for it if they are nursing. And I truly believe that God designed a family to work together, mother and father doing their best in each situation to raise their kids TOGETHER! FWIW I do believe that children should spend much more time with a parent than happens in this busy society though!
  19. I totally understand the feeling as I received one for Christmas from SIL andBIL too and then I received the kindle I asked for also (never ever ever would have expected or asked for the IPad). I have wrestled with wether I need both and if they are practical. I never would have bought both for myself. my husband and I had just decided we would buy a Fire for a combination devices it is sooooo much cheaper especially instead of two devices! I just feel sooo totally blessed and spoiled! All that to say it was a gift and he meant you to have something you REALLY wanted that would be extra special for you and you should enjoy it I think! You will love it for school PDFs and for education apps and for browsing this curriculum!
  20. Just saying! My daughter did her first MM assignment on the IPad with the notability app and it's awesome! :tongue_smilie: Now I have to figure out what to do for a case. What do you all prefer?? I want to maintain as much of the functionality as possible and I want it to stay lightweight. I also want it to be easier to grip. TIA :)
  21. :iagree: I live in Minnesota most of the time, and I will take my cold winters and very occasional tornado risk over all the freaky creeepy crawly things that bite and sting and poison. Or tsunami, earthquake, hurricane and volcano risks.:tongue_smilie:
  22. Depends on where you are going! They have one of the biggest volcanoes in the world. Mudslides, avalanches, hmm lets see :tongue_smilie:
  23. :iagree: I would say southeastern Minnesota, southern wisconsin or maybe Michigan. Lush green, especially by the Mississppi River Valley, lots and lots and lots and lots of lakes and rivers. Rochester is huge medical area.
  24. Probably not much benefit. The benefit comes if you are getting a really expensive phone for free when you resign your contact every 18 months or so, the upfront cost is more. But I imagine you would make it up easily in the course of a year or so. Also, IDK how it works if your phone quits after say 9 months, my husband has always been able to get Verizon to replace his phone if he had troubles with it before the renewal period. It may add up if you got a dud after only a few months of service and had to replace it, but at least you are not tied in to the deal, you could just decide it isnt worth it. Over all we would consider switching over to the prepaid if we didnt have our only source of internet through Verizon also.
