And people wonder why I am so hesitant to go to the doctor. We usually end up catching something worse from the office.

My son gets this. We haven't been able to pin down a cause. Exfoliation doesn't really help. The doctor recommended Am-Lactin lotion which helps some. His is worse in the winter when the air is drier.

My library does this with donations. They all end up in their book sales.

We mix plain fruit juice with unsweetened carbonated water. The kids call it punch.

The names and chief administrators (parent) of NC homeschools are public record. They are listed by county in the NCDNPE data base. You can find it if you poke around the site a bit.

Mine get a new toothbrush and a sticker or temporary tattoo.

you can freeze them in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Once they're all frozen, you can put them in a freezer bag. They make really good snacks just by themselves, kinda like frozen grapes. My kids love eating frozen blueberries.
This is what I do. My kids don't like fresh blueberries very much, but they will gobble them up frozen.

I've got one. My great grandmother was called 6 months after her death. My mom filled out the excuse with her date of death. The excuse was denied. My mom appealed for her with a copy of her death certificate. There was no response to that one way or another. As far as I know, no one came looking for her.

My Epson did that. It would even refuse to print black and white with a new black cartridge if one of the colors was out. I switched to a Brother laser printer last summer.

I bought a treadmill for $35 at the Habitat for Humanity store. It makes a weird noise when it goes top speed, but I can't go top speed anyway.
I don't do very well at yard sales.

Those should be fine. We've been through most of the elementary Apologia books and the only ones that took more than half a year were botany and human anatomy. We probably could have done botany faster, but we added a lot of nature study and planted a garden.

Yes I have. Traditionally it has lard. Maybe that's what is missing? :D

I cook soaked pinto beans with a ham hock. I always use leftover beans for refried beans. I think the time in the refrigerator helps. I mash them with a potato masher, heat them in a cast iron skillet with some kind of fat, sprinkle with cheese, and serve.

Same here. The first whole novel I read in public school was Great Expectations in 8th grade.

My youngest was looking at a furniture store sale paper with her Barbie. She said, "Here Barbie, let me show you some samples for your house. Here's a floor sample. Here's curtain sample. Here's a stool sample. Here's a couch sample." She was looking at bar stools.

Dd 12 has had a small stuffed dog named Pup since she was 1. Her grandmother bought it at Dollar Tree. Here's a link to some pictures.

I've had problems with my Visa too. They called me to ask if I was two states away making a $19.95 charge every 15 minutes. The bank shut down that card and issued a new one. Then the new card had charges for some gaming site. The bank took them off, but said that the account was not compromised. The gaming company had made a clerical error.

I'm glad you dad is getting the care he needs. Fathers can be stubborn sometimes.

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. Your kindness means a lot. So here's what I did to end my pity party:
1) Ordered a Kindle Fire. I've been wanting one. It's been sitting in my cart for months.
2) Dd 12 and I are going to the $1 summer movie tomorrow while dh takes the other two to their dentist appointment. He'll have to get up 30 minutes early, but I don't care.
3) Bought a Groupon to a nice Italian restaurant.
4) I talked to my sil (dh's sister-she said she'll have a word with him). The kids will spend the night at her house one night next week so we can go on a date at the aforementioned restaurant.
5) Talked to dh on the phone. I told him about my disappointment with my birthday and the stuff I've done. I also made the proclamation that he will dress up for our date ie. not shorts and a t-shirt.
Anything else I need to do before the day is done?

Huh. We were just talking about how many more there seem to be in the last few years.
If anyone needs more, they can have some from our fields. :lol: They are everywhere. I actually had one in the bathroom this morning, crawling up the mirror. :glare:
This reminds me of when a firefly landed inside the toilet and couldn't get out. There was an eerie greenish glow coming out of the bowl. We fished it out and it eventually flew away.

We keep going full steam ahead. It's hot, humid, and mosquito-y here. We might as well do school. We will take fun days for swimming, day camp, etc.

I've noticed a big increase in delivery time when a package gets handed off to the post office. I had books sit at the post office for several days before it went out for delivery.
