Haiku
My dd12 has, by her estimation, read every book the library has. I don't think that's quite true, but I do believe that she has read every book in the genre she likes. She asked me to post here for suggestions for fantasy/adventure series with animals. TIA! crazyforlatin
Jasper Fforde, Chronicles of Kazam, book 3 just came out. Love the heroine, almost as good a main character as Terry Pratchett's Wee Free Men series. And, Garth Nix Old Kingdom series.
Stacia
I'll have to ask my dd & I'll come back with more suggestions. Offhand, I thought of East by Edith Pattou. She also wrote two books that go together: Hero's Song & Fire Arrow. I Rode a Horse of Milk White Jade by Diane Lee Wilson. Adventure, not fantasy. I Am the Great Horse by Katherine Roberts. Adventure/history, not fantasy.
Stacia
Terry Pratchett's Wee Free Men series :iagree: Love these!
6packofun
The Silverwing series (bats) by Kenneth Oppel. My dd loved these. The Mistmantle Chronicles by M.I. McAllister (First one is Urchin of the Riding Stars) Christopher Mouse: The Tale of a Small Traveler by William Wise. For a bit younger ones (7-10) but my kids liked this one so much they wrote a letter to the author asking him to write more. lol The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams (Has she read The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale? The main character can communicate with animals. It's the first in the Books of Bayern series, which have other characters, though, I think. It's been a while since dd read this one. She was 13 or 14.)
Stacia
Probably ones she's already read: Redwall series Eragon series Magyk series Children of the Lamp series (not animals in these very much) Guardians of Ga'hoole series Wolves of the Beyond series The Faire Folk Saga series books by Tamora Pierce (especially the Song of the Lioness series, then the Immortals series continues the story)
shukriyya
I second The Mistmantle Chronicles. It rivals LOTR here and that's saying a lot! The Companions Quartet, it's fantasy but the animals are mythical and there are humans involved. Survivors series
