kentuckymom
So, for four days now, my three year old has had watery diarrhea a couple times a day. She is eating normally and does not otherwise act sick. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what's going on? I've gone about my life as normal, so, if she has a virus, she's been potentially spreading it all over town.
zoobie
Molars coming in?
kentuckymom
That's a good theory. It would be a reasonable time for her to be getting molars.
magnificent_baby
Sounds like Rotavirus. Regardless of cause, watch her very closely for dehydration.
kentuckymom
I've been watching her, and I guess it could be rotavirus, but, when my son had it years ago, he barely ate, threw up regularly in addition to diarrhea, and was basically miserable for five days. The only thing Kittygirl has is diarrhea. She's still nursing, so thankfully that makes dehydration unlikely.
Unicorn.
Is she pooping normally in between bouts of diarrhea, or only the latter? Could she be constipated, or have a blockage? Have her lay down and feel her abdomen for any hard knots. Molars could be the issue, too. Or, just a very mild virus.
jenn-
Could she have some sinus drainage causing irration?

kentuckymom
Thanks for the suggestions. We already removed some foods she had problems with over a year ago, so I doubt a new one is a possibility. I am well familiar with constipation indicators from her frequently constipated brother, and she has none of them from what I can tell. I'm thinking a mild form of rotavirus or another stomach virus is the most likely possibility. That means I'll just proceed as I have been unless she starts showing signs of dehydration. It's times like this when I'm glad she's still nursing.
Seasider
I wouldn't think true rotavirus with no fever and a desire to eat. Rotavirus is mean and can put kids in the hospital quick! I echo looking at her diet for food culprits. Maybe do the BRAT diet for a few days and see if things firm up. Also, have you been camping lately, or has she possibly taken in dirt water from a hose or other outside water source? Something like giardia may be a possibility, especially in little ones who are more likely to taste non food items.
Cinder
If she's eating any dairy you might reconsider lactose intolerance. Ds1 developed LI at 7 months old but dh didn't have any symptoms until he was about 20yo. He used to eat ice cream all the time and it seemed that all of a sudden he could not anymore. Perhaps something similar is happening with your dd?
Tiramisu
Could she have some sinus drainage causing irration? This could be it, especially with pollen levels high.
scbusf
In our house, it usually means one of the following: molars coming in (this causes more saliva), virus, cold/sinus issues.
Miss Peregrine
It could be anything, really. When my dd had prolonged diarrhea, it turned out she had salmonella and a parasite.
