kfeusse
are they REALLY better than other fleece jackets? ANd if so, why? I have lots of fleece tops and I can't decide if it is REALLY worth adding a Columbia jacket to the mix or not. thoughts for me??
TN Mama
I don't know if they're better, but we like them. We've always purchased them on sale, and recently I found one for dd 11 at Marshall's. Great find - in her favorite color even.
QueenCat
I love mine. It washes very well, with no fading or pilling. The zipper is of better quality than on cheaper fleece jackets I've seen.
k2bdeutmeyer
Depending on the brand of the cheaper version (obviously, some are better than others), I think they are thicker sometimes. That being said, I think there are plenty of non-Columbia's that are equally as nice.
praisefor3
Well...I would consider myself a fleece expert. ha! I have many, many fleece jackets in just about every color. I am now adding to my collection the new version of fleece-like jackets that are much softer to the touch. (Kind of like going from the original throw blankets to the new ones that you just want to instantly snuggle with.) In winter I prefer the new softer versions. In summer I prefer the original version (for wearing into a restaurant, taking to Disney World for cool areas, etc.) as they are not as clingy and will repel light rain. As far as Columbia versus other brands...Every Thanksgiving Bass Pro has fleece jackets for $10. They used to sell them with an inside pocket and an outside zippered pocket. This year's models did not have the zippered pocket on the outside. I like both of those pockets for Disney World so I can keep things secure in them. I also own two Columbia fleece jackets that I paid more for. I have to say that the only one that has had an issue is the Columbia one. The zipper pull broke off. It MIGHT be very, very slightly heavier but my BP jackets have never pilled, faded or shrunk so I am sold on paying $10 for the BP ones. kfeusse
so maybe nothing really special about them then? JCP had them for $35 and I just didn't know. A friend of mine thinks they are better than others...but I just can't seem to see it...is it in the name??
justLisa
The fleece is really good quality. Only thing is at least in kid sizes they run really short.
itsheresomewhere
I think they are just ok. I had the half zip one and it piled first wash. I have a North Face one that is fantastic. It looks brand new yet it is 3 years old. I bought some of Cabela's brand and those are nice too.
