A wire brush works too (I hate the feel of splinters of steel wool as it disintegrates.:tongue_smilie:). You don't have to leave the oven on all day either. Happy Posted April 23, 2009 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Oh yes! We pick up skillets in much worse condition than that from garage sales all the time. (Or used to...more people are keeping them these days.) Steel wool, wire brush, and a coating of veggie oil is what we use. Pop in the oven for a while to let the oil soak into the iron and start using it.
