How to find a housecleaner

Recommended Posts

No first hand experience here though I WISH I had it! If it were me, I'd call some of the local cleaning agencies and get a sense of their price. Then ask neighbors or friends who they use. My friends who have this luxury got referrals from local hotels even! Good luck.

I can't remember what part of Tx you're in, but if you're near me, a lot of people contact the seminary. There's a job board here w/ little jobs like that, & some of the seminary wives like to be able to work for an individual around their dh's schedule/kids/whatever.

I don't have any experience w/ either end of it personally, though.

If you're in the DFW area, I just hired a housekeeper last week. She has been attending our church and several of the older women knew her. She asked for prayers because she had lost several clients because they had lost jobs and she needed more work. It was definately an answered prayer for me. She's been here twice and I am thrilled. I'm definately getting value for my money. The first week she was here 7 hours and left my house sparkling. This week it didn't take her quite so long, I think she was here about 5 hours. I am paying $70.00/week. Right now I'm having her come every week - I'm still out of commission from neck surgery. I don't know if I'll cut it down or not when I'm back on my own. I kind of feel like I *ought* to help her out - she needs the job, we can afford it at the moment - we're both benefitting from the situation.

Anyway, if you're in this area I would gladly give you her information.

I just got online and contacted Merry Maids. They'll come and give you an estimate. And they won't pester you if you choose not to go with them.

Do you use Merry Maids? I have heard some bad things about them...that they don't do a thorough job. If they do a good job, that might be the easiest thing but I'm not sure I could afford their rates.
