Kate in Arabia
I want to watch the Three Musketeers with the kids this week; I have a choice between two versions from the univ library: the 1973 one with Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Michael York and Faye Dunaway; or the 1993 one with Charlie Sheen, Oliver Platt, Chris O'Donnell and Rebecca DeMorney. I grew up with the '73 one, but I did see the later one and vaguely recall that it was ok (but not what I was used to). Anyone have a preference? Nan in Mass
I haven't seen the second one, but I can tell you that the first one is very like the book. I love that one. How old are your children, though? I waited a bit to show it to mine.
Remudamom
Loved the first one. There's a kissing scene in the second that might make your boys squirm a bit!
coralloyd
I've seen both, go with the first choice.
Basketmaker Amy
I loved the first one when I was younger, however, my boys loved the second one! I'm not much help, am I? I was able to check out both of them from our library. Enjoy!
Gretchen in NJ
The first one is best out of those two, but there is a black & white version which is the best.
Kate in Arabia
How old are your children, though? I waited a bit to show it to mine. The kids are 11, 7 and 3. There may be some scenes that we fast forward through... At the moment they are enjoying the Dogtanian series, which is posted on Youtube -- we have the first video, but recently stumbled across the rest here.
