MomsintheGarden
Anyone whose student took the PSAT test in October, 2008 - has your student started getting mailings from colleges yet? My daughter scored well, and we've only gotten one thing, in November. She says she checked the box to allow mailings. Is it too early to expect anything? Thanks! AngieW in Texas
My dd hasn't received anything from a college yet, but she has received several summer exchange program things that she's never gotten before.
Michelle in MO
No, it's not too early to expect getting anything, but give it some time. Soon enough you will be getting plenty of information from colleges!
mcconnellboys
I don't know, it might vary by area of the country, or perhaps if done alphabetically some will get things earlier than others, etc. We have been getting a few things, but then we were getting some things even before the PSAT and ACT scores came out. As I understand it, once they fill out a common application online, then more schools will start sending things based on that.
Sojourner
Like others have mentioned we got a few program things but we were already getting things because of his dual enrollment at local CC. Shouldn't hurry it I guess as others have mentioned wanting the deluge to stop once it starts. Maybe SATs are the key.
Susie-Knits
between yesterday and today, my 11th grader has gotten about 30 emails from colleges indicating they are contacting him based on PSAT scores. Anyone else getting emails instead of letters? susie
mcconnellboys
Yes, we're getting those, too....
Cedarmom
My son is suddenly getting tons of college emails. I like it that way. No brochures to keep track, or paper wasted. Then he can look at the college on his own time. He finds it very amusing, because suddenly his email is swamped
AngieW in Texas
I posted too soon. Since I posted my response last week, my dd has received at least 10 emails from colleges. The only things we've received snail mail have been summer camp things on college campuses.
Sharon in MD
Hope you can manage to keep the cheerful attitude for the next couple years. My ds is a senior and he is sick of it. It is fun for a while, but it gets old.;)
MomsintheGarden
Dd got something today. The letter mentioned that she would soon be deluged with mail. The main reason I was concerned was that I just wanted to be sure she had checked all the right boxes on her test - it looks like she did. JFSinIL
Tons (ds first took it as a sophomore last year) and if it had not been for the mailings we would never have even HEARD of what is now his first choice college (Gettysburg) nor several others that are on the short-list to be visited. Jan in MO
The flood started for my 16yodd last week. That first letter mentioned that she was getting it as a result of her PSAT score, blah blah blah. She has gotten more each day since. readwithem
You were right, readwithem! How did you know? GardenMom My dd got a letter from them last week. She is too cold-natured for MN but their sense of humor has them on her radar :)
