TheAttachedMama
Hello, I am looking for a science curriculum for my rising 5th grader to follow next year. The catch is that I may be getting a new job, and I need to focus a lot of my teaching time with him on grammar, spelling, composition, and math. (Oh yea, and my other two high schoolers!). So I am trying to find something that I can sort of "assign and check". I was considering the Science Mom. Can anyone give me a review of this curriculum? Thanks! Ting Tang
We’re using her chemistry course now. It was recorded during the Covid lockdowns, and a few errors occurred with worksheets/lessons, but my children enjoy it. It’s not a year long course. There are activities and experiments, but they can also just be watched. Overall, I like it. I feel they are learning, and it frees me up for 45 minutes. amiesmom
My 5th grader has been using her earth science this year. I think it's great, she thinks it's OK. My older daughter did their biology when she was in 7th and loved it. She is now in 8th and doing physics and enjoys it. I think you can watch a sample lesson on YouTube. Some kids are turned off by the "goofiness" but my kids think it's great.
AnneGG
It’s okay. I think it’s expensive for pre recorded, YouTube style videos. The content is informative and we did like the activities. (chemistry)
Haanz
My kids have done their Biology, Chemistry, bits of Earth Science, and are currently doing Physics. The Biology course is excellent and was my kids' favorite. For a 5th grader I'd recommend starting with Earth Science which is free and will give you a good idea if you like the format.
