HappyGrace
Wanted to get some with my Christmas money! Thanks!
Faithseed
:bigear: I'm also in the market for good pottery. It makes me miss East Tennessee (where I grew up) where pottery could be found anywhere... Hope you get some good sources!
Sharon H in IL
How in the world can anyone suggest pottery for someone else??? Which coffee/tea mug to use is far too personal a subject, imo. My absolute complete favorite mugs I bought at Goodwill, and have never seen anywhere else. But if I were going to start from scratch, with money no object, I might go for Denby pottery. Heavy, beautiful colors (if you happen to like their palette), and gorgeous shapes. http://www.denbyusa.com/ranges/1214/imperial-blue.aspx OK, maybe I'll save up. Their imperial blue mugs are too delicious.:D Update: I found their website for seconds; it's near my grandma's hometown, in Lebanon, MO. I just ordered 4 blue mugs for $41. Quite a steal. :-) http://www.shephillsdenby.com/ItemDetails.asp?ProductCode=BLJ116 Edited December 26, 2008 by Sharon H in IL update
Donovans4
I would check on etsy.com . You can find amazing, handcrafted items there, just about anything you can think of! LauraD in MN
Jane in NC
Are there any potters in your town? I commissioned a potter whom I know to make some Christmas gifts for me. By buying directly, you can eliminate any middleman costs. Jane
Rosie_0801
I like markets for these sorts of things. Then you get enjoyment out of the journey of discovery too. :) Rosie
Guest Alte Veste Academy
I would check on etsy.com . You can find amazing, handcrafted items there, just about anything you can think of! LauraD in MN I second etsy. Also, if you don't find exactly what you need, you can find something close and then request a specific item from the seller. They're usually more than happy to oblige. I was recently looking for pottery mugs as well and tons came back in my etsy search. Kristina
HappyGrace
My COUSIN, who is also a pastor and officiated at my wedding, has been dabbling in pottery for over two yrs! I just found out when talking pottery with my aunt today. Apparently he's really good and has even sold some of his work at Chatauqua. So I will have a REALLY beautiful and very meaningful mug or two once I email him! (They live far away so we are not really in touch-haven't seen him in years.) BTW, I loved the things on etsy.com, thank you! Now that I'm on a pottery kick, I will definitely keep my eyes open at local shows, etc.
KJB
I have been lucky enough to buy several pieces in the last year. Unfortunately, buying it in the US can be pricey. In Europe, you can get a pretty good deal. Of course, you get the best selection in Poland! It is beautiful and well made. You can actually use it which is important to me.
