Life of Fred

Anyone seen any benefit to these?  Just realized library carries all of them.  We do math mammoth mostly plus a little online stuff.  Just planning on doing these for extra.

They are a fun extra! I wouldn't depend on them for a main curriculum, but as a change of pace and a new perspective they are great! In the last we have used them as "Fun Math" on Fridays.

My children have loved these and I have found it was worth the time we allowed invested.

Thank you! Excited to try them for our “fun math”!  And I think it might help certain topics click (money, time, geometry etc).  I have the perfect spot for them in our routine.

DS really enjoyed them, up through Mineshaft.  There is a lot of information thrown at a kid, but it was at a pace where he'd hit Fred on speed, come to regular math to actually learn it, and then go back to Fred to redo the procedural part again.

FWIW, I made a file of Fred Bucks for ............Farming, I think it is.  We printed them out on nicer paper, put them in an envelope after we were done playing and stuck it in the book.  We played with the a LOT.  A year later, when we were going through different base systems, ds pulled them right back out after making the connection that they were base-3 materials.  Fred did make it easier for him to see it (outside of the Montessori checkerboard system we were using)
