Most concise description of teaching reading ever, lol. 

I considered just teaching any future children to read in spanish, not english, just to avoid the nonsense. So much easier!

Have you looked at Seton’s? Let me go check them real quick. 
 

eta:

the only issue I see is they use ox for X. Which I think is acceptable and preferable to xylophone. There’s different vowel cards for each vowel sound too.
