crazyforlatin Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Other than CTY, I thought I saw another site suggested in a post for AP classes. And, has anyone taken AP Bio at CTY, either the summer intensive or the regular version? Did it prepare your student well? Was there quick feedback on assignments? Busy work? Quote
Farrar Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 You could do UC Scout. Or Apex. Though I'd do UC Scout before I'd do Apex. Does it have to be AP Bio specifically? Because you could do Thinkwell if it just needs to be AP Bio equivalent. 1 1 Quote
crazyforlatin Posted May 24, 2021 Author Posted May 24, 2021 I forgot about Thinkwell. At the very least this will be good as a supplement. Dd wants to major in science, and her bio exposure was not in-depth enough. Quote
crazyforlatin Posted May 24, 2021 Author Posted May 24, 2021 I just found the post that linked this place for summer intensives: https://classes.areteem.org/course/index.php?categoryid=117 Quote
gstharr Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 My soon to be 11th grader is wrapping up Thinkwell's companion biology. The companion classes are the full college claasses. TW AP just covers material on the AP Exam. TW is an excellent program. The concern about TW not being in tune with the AP exam is overblown. There is nothing wrong with the content. The problem is that the practice questions and tests do not align with AP format. This easily be remedied by taking a few of the College Board' practice exams to get a feel for the format. I know many who have done very well on AP exams after TW. BTW, TW seems to be remarketing it self more as a supplement than stand alone class. but videos and materials have not changed. As to CTY, no experience with biology, but he took AP chemisty intensive on-line last summer. It was a very rigorous course. If biology is like chemistry, she will be well prepared. 1 Quote
crazyforlatin Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 I was going to do a search on how the kids did on AP exams just with using TW as the main source and perhaps supplementing with Khan which I think now offers AP questions. Quote
