Anne
My dad just fell and broke his arm. He does most of the cooking and my mom is not going to be able to completely pick up the slack. I am thinking a meal delivery service a few times a week might be super helpful since none of us are local to them. Traditional mid-western probably best describes their eating preference, so a company that has those kinds of options would be great. Any experience or recommendations to share? TIA, Anne
Calm37
Our county has a senior meal delivery program. The food items would be as you describe. I think the cost is $5/meal delivered? Something like this might at least help with one of the meals each weekday. (for our county it is under Senior Nutrition) Edited June 12, 2020 by Calm37
Lanny
Possibly they will qualify for the "Meals on Wheels" program? I know someone in Texas who delivers, with her DH, 22 meals, one day a week. They should check that out.
HS Mom in NC
We use Schwans.com. They deliver every 2 weeks and if you don't get your order in online 2 days before delivery they come by anyway and can sell you things off the truck. Most things can be cooked from frozen in the oven or on the stove top. Many are microwavable. They have individually portioned meat servings and breakfast items. Some options are individually portioned meals. There are bags of fruits, veg, and breads. The frozen treats are yummy too.
