Kanin
I just read this in the local paper. I knew that non-stick coating was toxic, but I didn't realize that it was SO toxic - as in, less than 100 parts per TRILLION is harmful. The new version is a tiny bit less toxic, clocking in as dangerous at a few hundred parts per trillion. Wow. How can they still make it?? https://www.pressherald.com/2018/11/14/draft-epa-analysis-finds-chemical-compound-in-new-non-stick-coatings-also-harmful/
lavender's green
I had a materials science engineering professor who had grown up across the street from the guy who invented non-stick coating (maybe an older version?). The inventor wouldn't let his family eat anything cooked in a non-stick pan. Unfortunately DH really loves his non-stick pans!
ScoutTN
Is this coating different from the ceramic non-stick pans?
Farrar
It's the variations of Teflon that many think are unsafe. They used to contain some really messed up chemicals... now... I don't even know. A lot of scientific sites say they're safe, but they're so easy to scratch up. I won't use them.
