WahM
What should we do for 4th? I do not want to do WWE4 I would like to do something different for 4th and 5th then begin WWS in 6th, so what programs should I use until 6th? I'm contemplating Treasured Conversations or W&R Fable (to start I guess). I also thought about the IEW theme books, but not sure if those are worth it or have enough instruction without having done SWI. I am open to other suggestions as well. Is there a print version of Treasured Conversations? Edited June 30, 2017 by WahM
wendyroo
Our plan is to use some of the Killgallon books to bridge the gap between WWE3 and WWS1. Wendy
WahM
I've heard those are great. I'll look up some samples. Thank you.
ScoutTN
TC comes as a download. Just send it to your local copy shop to print. My first 4th grader is a strong writer and did TC and Fable. Loved both. This coming 4th grader needs more work on sentence structure and will do TC and Killgallon Sentences for Elementary. He might do Fable with Killgallon's Paragraphs for 5th. BlueWren
Our lineup is TC, W&R Fable and Killgallon Paragraphs spread out over 2 years before starting WWS1 in 6th Grade. We also add Brave Writer into the mix :)
fourisenough
We did two IEW theme books in between WWE 3 & WWS 1. Worked well.
Homebody2
We are doing TC and are really enjoying it (we started mid 4th grade last year after finishing WWE3). We'll move on to WWS 1 in 6th. I've taken a slow approach to writing. My goals for the rest of 5th are for my child to write a strong paragraph, take notes from texts, and write his own narrations (we've done narrations for years, but I've always written them down. Now he'll do most of the writing).
EKT
My oldest just finished WWE 3 and we are going to do Brave Writer for a year (various Arrows and poetry teatime and such; my own hodge-podge). My plan at the moment is to return to WWS 1 for 6th grade, but I am open to being whisked off to Brave Writer land forever, lol. But WWE really did work wonderfully for us, so I am pretty sure we will return to WWS1.
Aloha2U
I'd recommend W&R Fable after WWE. But I warn you... once you go W&R, you may never go back. :)
