5knights3maidens
After melting, can I use this is applesauce bread? I've never used this before for baking and I thought it would give a unique flavor. Thanks so much!
Camy-7 boybarians 1 lady
Just be careful using coconut oil as a substitute for solid fat in baking. You are likely using it for oil, which should be fine. However, if you use it in cookies, make sure to 1/2 the amount called for and add 1/2 water. Example, if a cookie recipe calls for 1 cup of solid fat (butter, shortening), use 1/2 cup coconut oil and 1/2 cup of water. Blessings. Faith
I use mine for applesauce bread and it works fine. My applesauce bread calls for melted butter so melted coconut oil works fine.

Are they a softer cookie? Thank you.
Once
I tried coconut oil in a muffin recipe I have made several times and found it to be more greasy than usual. Next time I will 1/2 it and use water to make up the rest. Great tip!

I would not say that they are softer than using shortening, but they are slightly softer than using butter alone, imo. Blessings.
