Nemom
I listen to the radio every day. It is my stress reliever as well as my kids'. The receiver on my 20+ year old surround system is going out. I don't really like the idea of using my phone to stream a local station. I also want quality sound not the one speaker monotone from a little bluetooth speaker. I refuse to pay for free radio by subscribing to a music service. Interested in suggestions on how to listen to local stations without using my phone and having quality sound... J-rap
We still have a stereo system that plays radio, records, and DVD's. In our kitchen, we have a little under-the-counter TV/radio/CD player. One of those two radios is on almost constantly, playing NPR classical music or news. The sound is excellent on the stereo system. It's adequate on the little kitchen unit. Our stereo is not a real expensive one, but I think the speakers are considered pretty good.
Laurie
I listen to local AM and FM stations daily. I've been happy with my Bose radio/cd and C. Crane radio.
KatieJ
Bose systems are expensive but wow, they have great sound. Look fir a smaller counter top one or an under the cabinet mounted one.

I've been trying to avoid Bose because of the cost but I may have no choice. Another system I really like is Sonos but double wow if I want a whole house system with a sound bar and bass. This is the sort of thing you can get for a song on craigslist.
