bibiche
No, decidedly, "we are not following the law of the Great Spirit." Watch this important Academy Award winning documentary and tell me how things are changing for the better and how you are proud to be an American. :(
6packofun
Was Roger Ebert wrong about the journalistic integrity of the film? http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/broken-rainbow-1986
bibiche
Was Roger Ebert wrong about the journalistic integrity of the film? http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/broken-rainbow-1986 I think he was wrong, yes, but you can watch it and decide for yourself. Could it have been a better crafted film? Undoubtedly. (I'd get rid of some of that music for starters!) But the story it tells is a true and important one that most Americans don't know and should. The US does not do the best job of educating its citizens on the subject of Native Americans in general and it especially doesn't do a good job of presenting the injustices they have faced and continue to face. Catwoman
I don't know anyone who believes the Native Americans have been treated fairly, but I do think it is entirely possible to be proud to be an American while still recognizing that our country is certainly not perfect and that it has some serious flaws.
