roanna
My son will be in 6th grade next year. I was wondering for those that have good spellers, do you use a curriculum for 6th or just stop? Thanks
maize
I don't use a curriculum at all with my kids who pick up spelling naturally. I would absolutely stop if your child isn't struggling, there are so many other uses for that time.
umsami
DS1 is an excellent natural speller, so I didn't use anything for him spelling-wise, but we added in a vocab book (Latin/Greek roots). DS2 was not a natural speller, so I used Spelling Workout. (Didn't love it, didn't hate it.)
Raifta
Both mine were natural spellers and one finished AAS 5 in mid-grade 3 and we just stopped there. The other finished AAS 5 last month in mid-grade 4 and I've also decided not to continue with spelling for him. We are doing vocabulary via MCT for both.

Ellie
I second Spelling by Sound and Structure (R&S Publishers). It teaches more than just correctly spelling a list of words: syllabication, etymologies, adding prefixes and suffixes, abbreviations and contractions, and more.
roanna
My son's current school uses Abeka and it is quite challenging. The teacher uses it the same as listed for Rod and Staff. I'm not a fan of workbooks but it's definitely a good program. He actually wants to get 6th grade but I'd like to spend time elsewhere.
