plain jane
Had a huge turkey for Christmas and lots of left overs but I didn't get all the meat eaten so I shredded it and put into a ziplock in the freezer. I did this on the morning of the 29th (fourth day after). This past Thursday night one of the kids accidentally left the freezer door cracked and the shredded turkey meat was definitely thawing so I put it in the fridge on Friday morning. Made a big soup Friday night and again yesterday but I still have a fair bit left. Meat has been in the fridge. Would you consider it ok to make another soup today or has it gone too long? Anne in CA
I doubt it was in the danger zone more than four hours total, so I would for myself. I wouldn't serve it at the restaurant. My family eats a lot of food that I can't serve because I'm not sure it if was at room temp for four hours so I don't like to chance it.
Annie G
I might if I was going to consume all the soup today, but I wouldn't make soup today to eat throughout the week. You're at day 7 of it just being refrigerated and that's my limit. Disclaimer: My limit isn't based on any science. It's just how I feel. chocolatechip
I totally would. Without a second thought. I'm not sure how PPs are getting 7 days refrigerated? When I read it I understood that she put it in the refrigerator on Friday and then made soup that night. That was two days ago... Freezing just stops bacterial reproduction, it doesn't kill what's already there.
