Janeway
I agreed they don't do autism evals. We didn't have to pay a parent share - not sure what they wanted - it's been a long time. When ECI ends the local school district takes over (very promptly as well). So, not sure what you're talking about wrt long waits for ECI. Sorry..I was on my phone before. When I said early childhood intervention, I was not referring to ECI-the government agency. I was just referring to services as early as possible as a result of an early DX of ASD or such. ECI has never been an issue to get in with, and everyone there is so sweet and nice. But I am thinking more along the lines pt/ot/speech services, sensory therapies, feeding therapies, etc that come with an ASD DX. And would happen more in the preschool years. Farrar
Two to three month wait for a well check. Same day or next day for any kind of illness visit. There's even a walk in clinic for simple things early in the morning. The visits are just scheduled radically differently. ETA: Though, now that my kids are older and our previous doctor closed up shop, I'm not sure if the new place does this, but our old office had, from what I could tell, four different sorts of appointments - well visits for babies, well visits for older kids, same day illness slots, and general illness slots. So, the well kid visit took a month or two to schedule. The well baby visit they held a bunch more slots for and you could schedule a couple of weeks out. bettyandbob
Two to three months for a well check. For specialists I've waited six month or longer. I drove through hurricane Sandy for a specialist appointment at a hospital 1.5 hours away because I feared rescheduling. I don't have any govt plan for my kids. They are covered in what's considered a Cadillac plan through dh. I don't consider it Cadillac quality service, but I've never owned a Cadillac so maybe I don't understand. linders
A routine physical - schedule out 4-6 months. Immediate care - our pediatrician has a daily walk-in hour for emergencies, and can typically offer an actual appointment within 1-2 days.
