itsmylife
Were the Nancy Drew series (original from the 1930s) re-written? What about the Hardy Boys? Were these sanitized too? I found a set of Nancy Drew books in the used book store. They looked different and one lady mentioned that these were the re-written to make them suitable for the current sensibilities. Can someone please enlighten me on this. TIA!
TrixieB
Yes, some (not sure how many) of the earlier books were re-written. Same with the Bobbsey Twins books. I don't know about the Hardy Boys.
MercyA
Yes; this article details some of the changes. Entirely new series like The Nancy Drew Files (1980's), Girl Detective (2003+), and the Nancy Drew Diaries (2013+) have also been published.

Wabi Sabi
There is a new series out that is supposed to be the Nancy Drew for a new generation. I believe that only the first book has been released so far, but I'm going to order it for my dd for Christmas: https://www.amazon.com/Into-Lions-Devlin-Quick-Mysteries/dp/0399186433/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479341056&sr=8-1&keywords=devlin+quick+mysteries
