Seasider
Yesterday I was up and out very early. The full moon was setting in the west. As dawn crept into the sky, the bright white moon took on a rosy glow. Perhaps that's why it's a "strawberry" moon? It was quite pretty. Junie
Apparently the June full moon is always called the strawberry moon because it falls during the height of strawberry season. It is special this year because it coincides with the summer solstice.

AppleGreen
That makes sense but peak strawberry season as I'm familiar with it is much earlier than June. I believe it is a name given by the Algonquin peoples. They are further north, IIRC, so perhaps it coincided with their strawberry season? In my location, strawberry season has come and gone. We are not there yet. 2-3 more weeks before we get strawberries.
