Pink and Green Mom
Last week my husband picked up eggs from the grocery store. I just opened the carton and all but 2 are cracked on top (looks like something heavy fell on them during transportation). No liquid is oozing out, the shells are just cracked/dented. I guess my stupid question is does the fact that the shell is cracked have any bearing on whether they are safe to eat? Anyone know?
J-rap
I would not eat them if they were cracked. I figure bacteria, even just something on the outside of the shell, could get in there. I'd try and get my money back!
regentrude
I would not eat them if they have been like this for a week. The shell protects the egg from bacteria; if it is cracked, bacteria can have entered the egg. Edited June 7, 2016 by regentrude
Pink and Green Mom
Thanks for the replies! I was inclined to think "nothing wrong" but will definitely not use them now. I have a feeling they were fine at the store and DH just put something heavy on top of them in my trunk. Men.....LOL (or that is what I get for sending him to Publix).
