arcara
Hi, I have a daughter who will be in 8th grade next year. She's always been quite strong in grammar, and I'm tempted to just say that she doesn't need it at all, but one last book for her to use in 8th grade that would make sure she is truly solid on everything would probably be a good idea. I would like it to be the last grammar she ever needs to take. She would need something independent and something that doesn't take much time. Ideas? Thank you! Momto6inIN
Analytical Grammar was a big hit here. My 8th grader did all 3 seasons in 1 year, so it is doable. It took minimal time from my standpoint, maybe 10 minutes or so on Monday to go over the lesson and the first few exercises with them (if you DD is already a grammar pro she might not need this) and 5 minutes each day the rest of the week to grade it with them. But it took longer for them to do all the exercises each day. It's expensive, but it looks like you have other younger kids you could use the teacher's book for.

mamapedia
I believe exodus books.com have Our Mother Tongue a great review. I haven't used it, but it is what I am considering for next year. You could probably skip the first section (parts of speech) the lessons look pretty short, & the book looks pretty thorough. There are like 50 lessons, so if you skipped the first unit, you could probably spread each lesson over a week? ~Laura
mamapedia
There's an answer key, so it could be pretty independent, I think. ~Laura

laughing lioness
My sil, who worked as an editor, loves Analytical Grammar. I've used Our Mother Tongue and it's more basic, for those (like me) who started out with weak or non-existance grammar. Have you seen Mary Daly's Whole Book of Diagramming? arcara
The most important thing she needs to go over is punctuation, especially commas. I know that understanding clauses and phrases is essential for proper comma usage, so this would be necessary, too. Thx again!

We bought this years ago and use it as a resource. Editor in Chief is a different take on grammar and punctuation. So is Find the Errrors AG is an awesome program and does include punctuation. My oldest used and liked Grammar Girl. It was also an interesting approach....very "to the point."
