flyingiguana Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 http://www.techinsider.io/noaa-okeanos-explorer-marianas-trench-livestream-2016-5 http://oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/okeanos/media/exstream/exstream.html I hadn't seen this posted before. You can watch live feed from a submersible they send down each day (until May 11? and then starting again in June at some point). The downside for us in the US is that it's only during daylight hours, Fiji time. And the first part of the feed each day seems to be the submersible making its dive, which isn't all that interesting. However, you can back up the live feed. So if you're up in the morning, you may be able to back it up a few hours. And for anyone close to Fiji time, you can watch all day long. The video has been a little icky the past few days, but they keep saying they're going to get that fixed. It does come into clear focus enough that it's worth watching. There are a lot of sponges, the occasional fish, now and then a shrimp. Brittle stars, weird deep water corals, a few jellyfish. Last night there was a sea cucumber. 3 Quote
