IfIOnly
DS12 has found 2 mentors in our community who are willing to teach him welding! He's not interested in welding as a career but would like to learn the art. After saving up money from working for our home business and with his dad, he purchased a welder recently. Through a friend who contacted his retired shop teacher and another 4-H parent who has a successful welding business, he found two mentors who are not only willing but excited to help him learn. Yay! My husband offered his services and help in anyway possible as a trade, too, but neither took him up on the offer. We will of course show our appreciation in many ways, including a thank you gift and card at some point. Just wanted to share my excitement, and offer some encouragement that others are willing to help our kids pursue their interests and goals!

IfIOnly
That is awesome! That is wonderful! Thanks you! This has been an interest of DSs for a little while, and after looking at books and YouTubes, we realized that this is something that really needs to be learned from someone knowledgeable. DS is really excited to learn!
Rachel
My husband would love to learn to weld, not sure when he would have the time, but each time a welder goes on sale he tells me about it. I think it's great you found a mentor.
Rachel
Oh and I know your son isn't interested in welding as a career, but it could be a great summer or side job for him. It would pay much better than many jobs available to teenagers.
