Mom to Aly
Tell me I'm a total freak, but the person talking about "princess" made me think of this. I have never, ever bought my dd anything that said "angel" on it because... well... my first daughter died shortly after death, and I feel like it is bad luck (I am beyond superstitious, btw). Is anyone in the world like this, or am I a total freak?
abbeyej
That particular one wouldn't bother me, because I don't believe that dead humans become "angels". (I don't believe death is the end -- I just don't think "angel" is the result.) I guess I think the "angel" shirts are just fantasy -- sort of the same as "fairy" or, indeed, "princess". But I don't think there's anything *wrong* with feeling the way you do about the angel shirts...
mommylawyer
I've never been a big fan of ANY writing on my children's clothes - "princess," "angel," "sweetie," "cutie," etc. And DH especially can't stand clothing items that say "Daddy's Little Girl," "Mommy's Little Man," etc. No, I don't think you're a freak. Mom to Aly
Well, and actually I am not wild about the "tween" stuff with "hot stuff" and stuff like that, because I think of sexual predators looking at girls with shirts like that--sure I'm still not a freak? ;)
dangermom
I'm not a fan of "Angel" or "Princess" or "Hot Stuff"--so I guess I'm a freak too. I don't like the way little girls are being sexualized by popular clothing, and I'm not wild about any of the others either.:willy_nilly:

Michele B
No, I don't think you are a freak. I am sorry for your loss.:grouphug: I am not a big fan of the following - 1. Words on clothes - especially Brat or Flirt. 2. Cute angels - As a catholic, I try to avoid "cute" angels. Humans are a different species than angels; we don't become angels. Also, in the Bible, people tend to fall flat on their faces when they see angels. And the angels tend to start off with "Be not afraid." That makes me think angels are not cute.;)
