Nestof3
My brother ran in the Ultra Trail Tour du Mont Blanc -- an ultramarathon. It takes place once a year in the Alps, across France, Italy and Switzerland. The distance was 170 km (105.6 miles) (length was increased this year), with a total elevation gain of around 3500 feet. The race is run in one leg. Some believe that it is the most difficult foot race in Europe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_Trail_Tour_du_Mont_Blanc My brother came in # 106 out of 2,873 participants who finished (# 64 in his category). It took him 31 hours and 19 minutes. Go Mike!

tinag
 It is amazing to me that someone can have that kind of endurance. I can hardly run a couple of miles. Go Mike is right! :hurray:
Jennifer in MI
WOW!! Did he run those 31 hours STRAIGHT??!! I guess I assumed he stopped and slept and ate somewhere in the middle there. Heather in the Kootenays
Where do they find the time? I ran a marathon once and it seemed to take all my spare time - and that was before kids.
laylamcb
That is simply incredible! My sister is a marathoner, and I find that incredible. Your brother's feat is super-human. :001_smile:
Nestof3
Where do they find the time? Honestly, I think he is very VERY selective about how he chooses his time. They all go to bed around 8 or 9 PM. He gets up very early to run, is VP of something within Bank of America Securities (I have no idea what he does!), comes home and spends time with his wife and 9 month old, and goes to bed. He's not the kind of guy who will just sit and watch television, if you know what I mean.
