moonlight
When would you use the AOPS Intro to Number Theory book in your math sequence? And I'm assuming it is a full year course? Thanks!
wapiti
I haven't used it, but my understanding is that it's a half-year course and that it helps to have a good bit of algebra 1 first. See the pretest "Are You Ready?" Beyond prerequisites, it is outside the standard sequence, so it really doesn't matter when it is done. Julie of KY
We did it alongside algebra - essentially alternating books. The first several chapters of NT are fairly easy, but the thinking skills become more abstract as the book goes on. I would think you could do it before algebra, but it would be frustrating to some students in the last half of the book.
kiwi mum
It is a one semester course that assumes that you have already had some Algebra. I would recommend already having some AOPS experience too before trying it. The things we struggled with in Number theory were explained in AOPS Algebra book (which we did after Number Theory). PinkyandtheBrains.
We used it after Algebra, summertime fun.
Arcadia
If your kid is crazy over number theory and have done the eimacs foundation class then anytime. Else you can do the book over summer after algebra.
