WashingonIrving
Can anyone tell me how Art of Argument compares with The Fallacy Detective and The Thinking Toolbox? My 6th grade dd has completed both of the Bluedorn books this year and loved them. I was wondering if we should give Art of Argument a try for next year. What are some other logic options for middle school?
RootAnn
Can't help you for Thinking Toolbox, but I've done FD (twice) & AoA (once, plans to do it again next year). AoA is a great, more-in-depth follow-up to FD. Some of the fallacies are the same, and some are named differently. There is a lot more info in AoA, IMO. We did AoA in a small group setting (4 kids) with two moms, lots of interaction, and some games. You could move onto other CAP logic products or try out more formal logic like Canon Press's Introductory Logic or Memoria Press's Traditional Logic. FWIW, My dd#1 is doing MP's TL this semester & dislikes it greatly after loving FD & AoA.

Amithy
For The Art of Argument, is it necessary to have the teacher book & DVD?
RootAnn
>I< needed the TM. It is the student book with answers printed in it plus a bunch of quizzes & tests in the back. I didn't get the DVD.
