trafal
BJU starts their $99 deal on 12/4. This gives you access to their online classes but you must purchase the books and other materials separately. Does anyone know how much the textbooks change from one edition to the next? I own copies of the Science textbooks for grades 2,3,and 4 but I believe each book has been updated to a newer edition in the past year or two. If the content is basically the same then I would not spend the $$$ for new books.. Any ideas?
Omma
Usually the change is dramatic. I would look for the correct edition on ebay. Alternatively, you could try viewing sample pages, especially of the table of contents of each edition. Brenda
Punks in Ontario
Sometimes the online option isn't updated to the new text for a year or two. You might be okay. If you check which edition is linked to the course, you will know. One advantage to this is that it is fairly easy to find used texts to use. bethben
I was wondering this very question for the biology. It seems like the editions are pretty similar. Anybody know? Beth
trafal
I went to the BJU website and was able to confirm that for 2nd grade the online course uses the 3rd edition and I have the 2nd edition. I was able to "look" inside the book and , unfortunately, the content is not similar enough to use the books interchangeably. However, the new edition looks great . It opens with a chapter on the scientific method that is very well done. I decided to use my old book as a spine and I bought a lapbook for each chapter from Hands of a Child. The lapbooks are $3 today.! This is a great deal especially if you have old textbooks laying around and you would like to figure out a way to spice them up a little.
