blondeviolin
My 5yo can only make this sound occasionally, and typically at the end of a word. Her "ch" sounds much like "sh." It's not a problem in every day speech, but she is having difficulty differentiating words like chop and and shop or wish and which. Is there a website or something where I can find prompts for how to hold her mouth?
displace
Maybe saying sh as shhhhhhhhhh? And emphasizing ch as a short sound? I would recommend a hearing test if she can't hear the differences? The sound in ch is made with the tongue on the roof of the palate. Perhaps that can help? Ausmumof3
http://mommyspeechtherapy.com/?p=1356 This may help. I used similar techniques for l with my son.
Violet Crown
Wee Girl struggled with /ch/ (and with just about every other sound in English). It took her three steps to make /ch/ correctly: (1) Make sure the teeth are together for /sh/; (2) make sure the tongue is hitting the palate for /t/; and then (3) put them together, /t/ + /sh/, for /ch/. Thanks for this. She can make both /t/ and /sh/. She can hear the difference, she just can't MAKE it. Lol
