madteaparty
Some of the cartoons have lots of fast talking. I need something above Petit Ors Brun or whatever and not quite at Tin tin-type level. I think too much fast talking and he shuts down as it becomes a lot of work. We listen to audiobooks (one short chapter at a time) while reading the corresponding text, but I think his ear needs "broken" some more. Thanks for any suggestions. Muttichen
We used Tintin very early (my little boys were preschoolers running around quoting the lines!) I didn't worry at all that they missed a lot early on, and they never saw it as work. We didn't watch TV at all, so this was their only screen time. We'd have "quiet time" every day and I'd put a Tintin in so I could mop the floor or have a cup of tea. They watched them over and over and over and ended up knowing them pretty much word for word. The only easier things we had were really elementary -- Caillou, for example. My kids never took to them the way they took to Tintin. :)

Will try that; just ordered the motherload of Tin Tin, Asterisk and Petit Nicholas from amazon.ca--I think extra screen time even if he glazes over will be welcome. He can glaze over in French ;)

bibiche
There are lots on YouTube and dailymotion. Usually when you find one there will be suggestions on the side that match the level. Try Peppa Pig, Sam le pompier, Tracteur Tom, Roary, Sam-sam. DS still enjoys Les freres Kratt and les Schtroumpfs. And the old series (not a cartoon) of Fifi Brindacier dubbed in French. yinanyinu
"Passe-partout" is not a cartoon, but my children loved it and it may suit your children. It is a Quebec children's TV program, produced in the 70s-80s. There are puppets, little vignettes of daily life (tapping for maple syrup in the winter, playing hockey, etc), songs, games, etc. Each episode is about 30 minutes long, and I believe it is geared to young children, perhaps preschool. You can look for snippets on youtube.
