redquilthorse
I am looking for something I can use as a supplement to work on problem solving and conceptual math for my 4th grader. He has always just sailed through BJU, so he needs something more. But I don't want to completely switch to something new. Just need a supplement to take things up a notch. :) Suggestions? weintz8
We use Beast Academy for a supplement. Since there is not a full years curriculum out yet we use 4A and B as a supplement to work on conceptual math. We do about one page (front and back), twice a week. We use CLE (5) as our main curriculum. HTH
kiana
Beast Academy, Zaccaro's Challenge Math, Hard Math for Elementary School (http://www.technologyreview.com/article/524231/when-math-is-no-problem/), Cleo Borac's Competitive Mathematics for Gifted Students (http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00DXHDM2A)
wapiti
Cleo Borac's Competitive Mathematics for Gifted Students (http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00DXHDM2A) Wow I've never seen these before - has anyone used these?
silver
I'm using it with my son. He loves "puzzle problems" (as he calls them), and he adores the Borac book we've worked through. I think it is a good resource for finding patterns and for learning to apply patterns from easier problems to tougher problems.
letsplaymath
I was going to suggest the Ed Zaccaro books, but Kiana already mentioned them. So I'll add Creative Problem Solving in School Mathematics and the Math Olympiad Contest Problems books by George Lenchner and Richard Kalman. Oh, and Math Pickle is wonderful: http://www.mathpickle.com/K-12/Videos.html
