Laurie4b
Ds took a high school level biology class two years ago (There is an AP biology homeschool class in our area this year. Would it be legitimate for him to take it again as an AP course? He is not a science/math guy. Does fine in high school courses, but is music/humanities by bent. He took chemistry last year and will be taking environmental science as an AP course this year. I wondered if we could count Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and AP Biology as our 4 high school science courses.
forty-two
I'd say yes. At my ps, AP science courses required that you had taken a regular course in that subject first. So we had Bio I in 9th, Chem I in 10th, Physics I in 11th, and then - and only then - were you eligible to take Bio AP, Chem AP, Physics AP, etc. (although the Physics I req for Bio AP was routinely waived). So I see no problem with having regular Bio and AP Bio as separate credits.
Jane in NC
as an AP course? He is not a science/math guy. Does fine in high school courses, but is music/humanities by bent. Agreeing with the other poster that many high school students take a regular biology course before taking AP biology. That said, I want to warn you that it may be a challenge for a non-science oriented student to take two AP science courses in a year. It can be done but will it take dedication. LizzyBee
My dd's high school requires honors biology as a prerequisite to AP biology. So I'd say yes.
FloridaLisa
:iagree: Agreeing with all the previous posters that you should be able to show both on a transcript. HTH, Lisa
