StartingOver
Looking for suggestion for after Getting Started with Spanish. It has been forever since I have done Spanish, Power Glide was the thing back then, I haven't seen a single good review though. What is everyone using, secular please? TarynB
When we used GSWS, I believe the author recommended the Practice Makes Perfect Spanish workbook series. We used this one: http://www.amazon.com/Practice-Makes-Perfect-Basic-Spanish/dp/0071458050/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1389211009&sr=1-4&keywords=practice+makes+perfect+spanish We're currently using Visual Link Spanish. Halcyon
We use DuoLingo and also a book called Beginning Spanish Reader. We read it out loud, they study the words they don't know, and then they have to translate a section each day. We have Practice Makes Perfect and Barron's Spanish book but have not begun using them yet. Perhaps next year.
Chrysalis Academy
Here's another for the "Got it, but haven't started it yet" files: Easy Spanish Step by Step by Bregstein. I think this is what my (then) 7th grader will use for grammar study next year. I have no idea what to use with my (then) 3rd grader, so I'm :bigear:
StartingOver
Luckily I was very fluent as a child, I don't remember much but the words are almost all at least familiar to me, so I am picking it up very quickly. Thanks for the suggestions, I am still trying to figure out where to go next. Probably a reader for sure, and something from the internet. JadeOrchidSong
I bought two copies of East Spanish Step by Step. We haven't started yet. I'd like to consider Visual Link Spanish, too.
RootAnn
We tried Spanish for Children A. Complete failure here. We're doing Duolingo and are going back over GSWS (and finishing it up, since we didn't get quite to the end the first time). Since I speak Spanish with a French accent, I need an audio component. I'm leaning toward an online class of some sort. There were several links that looked interesting in the Online Classes thread. (I plan to look into Spanish Clicks and Spanish Learning Online. There were several others listed - including La Class Divertida. If none of those works, I'll probably go with the Practice Makes Perfect book & finding a local tutor to work with her on conversation. ...................
A little late for this thread, but we we plan to use Galore Park. It's very traditional fast-paced grammar heavy Spanish program and it makes sense to me.
