For missionary biographies suitable for elementary as read alouds and upper elementary and middle school as readers I love the Geoff and Janet Benge ones (the covers are boring so don't get put off by that). And my favorite of all those would be the one on Gladys Aylward. Even my husband read it! It reads like a thriller.
