What climate are you in?  Will it be covered by a patio or left out in the elements?

Midwest - winters and summers.  Heat and snow.  Outside - no patio.

I would buy the rather expensive kind that are made out of recycled materials. It kind of feels like the composite decking material only feels smoother to the touch. They are guaranteed to not stain or fade ( they come in many colors) and some of the styles are wonderfully comfortable!

Never seen this.  Would you have any sort of link at all?

We have wrought iron with cushions (more comfy than it sounds, and the pieces are not super-heavy). Going on twelve years--no rust. We bring in the cushions after the summer is over.

So you leave cushions out over summer.  Do they get icky?  When I think of outdoor wrought iron I think of this.  Is this similar to what you have? http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/for/3990786578.html

We bought a patio set off of Craigslist. DH used a wire brush on it, then spray-painted it black with rustoleum spray paint. We bought new cushions for it on sale at Pier One. We leave it (and the cushions) outside all of the time. The glass table top broke in a storm. So, we bought another table (without chairs) off of craigslist. The table is similar to this, but bigger and oblong:

We've had it now for about five or six years (in Hawaii/then NC/then Hawaii). DH freshens up the paint about every other year and we've replaced the cushions once.
