Hunter
I've been going through my list of ebooks from the two publishers, but sure would like a list that is lined up with SOTW or TWTM or something similar. I hate to reinvent the wheel.
mama25angels
Hunter, I don't think there is one. How are things going with you and the ipad mini?
Hunter
I love my mini. It is SO much more than I expected it to be. And it came just before my life got more complicated. I carry it around with me everywhere. I honestly don't know what I'd be doing right now if I hadn't gotten it before things got wonky. And you know how people say they cannot cuddle with a screen. I cuddle with this more than I ever did any book other than a leather bound BIble, back when I was a Christian. I adore the white borders for ebook reading, and I adore the white chiclet keyboard. It reminds me of that gum I ate as a kid. What I'm doing right now is displaying the pdfs that list the books on one device, and then searching through the books on another device to see what I have. I'd love a list, but now that I know there isn't one, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. In the past I had this idea in my head that I needed to pick just one perfect device and have just one. I'm realizing the benefit of two devices. I sometimes have the answer key, table of contents, glossary or TM open on one device, and the student pages on another. I've also learned other ways to teach better from a screen. Things I learned while using the older What Your Grader Needs to KNow series coupled with Waldorf methods. Both my phone and my iPad are getting a real workout. And I'm really liking the iPad Scanner Mini app!

My3girls
Look at Amblesideonline.com. We use their Literature schedule and biography/tales schedule. Hunter
Look at Amblesideonline.com. We use their Literature schedule and biography/tales schedule. Their History and Science is a little too antiquated for me, but we are loving the rest. ~Bets Yes, I'm really poking around the AO website and forum. The geography is interesting. Ambleside Online/House of Education Geography http://www.amblesideonline.org/geographysch.shtml Even with just a couple of topics in a term, over the course of six years, many topics can be taught. In "Home Education," (volume 1 of her Series, pg 72-78) Charlotte Mason talks about teaching these kinds of things during outdoor time. If you would like a book to help explain these concepts, topics are lined up with corresponding chapters from both Home Geography for Primary Grades by Long, and/or Elementary Geography by Charlotte Mason, both of which are online and be accessed for free. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qsqdwav9mbe725l/ElementaryGeographyCM.pdf http://books.google.com/books?id=EUkAAAAAYAAJ&source=gbs_navlinks_s Year 1 Term 1: The world is round. These topics are covered in these chapters: Long's Home Geography 4. How the Compass Shows Direction Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: The Points of the Compass Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: The Mariner's Compass Term 2: Planets rotate around the sun. These topics are covered in these chapters: Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: Our World and Other Worlds Part I Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: Our World and Other Worlds Part II Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: Day and Night Term 3: The poles; earth's spinning on its tilted axis makes the four seasons These topics are covered in these chapters: Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: Poles and Axis Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: The Four Seasons Part I Charlotte Mason's Elementary Geography: The Four Seasons Part II 2 minute explanation on YouTube; also look for Bill Nye The Science Guy episode: "Seasons" (23 minutes) Year 3 Term 1: Measuring distance: inch, foot yard; mile. ficbot
I put together a list by grade level for my school library using the YC set. The books marked * come from the Gateway to the Classics set but are all available for free at Project Gutenberg if you don't care about the pretty matching covers :) As you can see, there are a few thin areas if you are looking for a 'full' curriculum, but you could actually put together a pretty decent program with this set, even if all you used it for was free reading selections :) Kindergarten Literature Reading-Literature: The Primer by Harriette Tradwell Mother Goose by Frederick Richardson Read-Aloud Kindergarten Gems by Agnes Ketchum Mother Stories by Maud Lindsay More Mother Stories by Maud Lindsay Nature: Spine (Choose 1) Books by Arabella Buckley Books by Thornton Burgess Books by Clara Dillingham Pierson Nature: Supplement The Book of Nature Myths by Florence Holbrook Parables from Nature by Mrs. Alfred Gatty Stories Mother Nature Told to Her Children by Jane Andrews Grade 1 Literature Reading-Literature: The First Reader by Harriette Treadwell Stories from Plato and Other Classic Writers by Mary E. ficbot
FYI, I also put together a comparison of the Heritage History Young Readers Collection with the YC collection because I was considering getting the program guide for HH---if I had to choose, I think the best value is YC plus the HH guide because you can follow the HH program almost exactly with the YC set and get a whack of extra books too. Here are the books the HH site lists as part of the young readers collection; as you can see, most of them are in the YC set as well; a handful are not int he YC set but there is a comparable substitute which is, and a very tiny few are not in the YC set and have no obvious substitute.
