Michelle My Bell
I just got a big ole pile of books for school this upcoming year that are all part of the HOD newest program. I want to color code the spines but I was hoping to get some advice on the best methods. What do you use to mark your spines? Techniques? Links? Bambam
I follow AmblesideOnline, so I mark each book spine with the year number, term number, and the subject (HIS, LIT, etc) I purchased those colored stickers (circles but I've also used rectangular) from WalMart - the ones that have four colors (green, orange, yellow, pink) and select a specific color for each year. Yes, I end up with green Year 6 and green Year 10, but I'm okay with that. I also cover each color sticker on the spine with scotch tape (just for insurance purposes). I find the colored stickers help the book stand out when I'm looking for a specific school book.
Murphy101
Idk for HOD, but for my FIAR books, I used 4 different colored smile stickers. For the rest of my library, they are sorted by shelf for subjects, and sub subject.
Miss Marple
I used color stickers as well.
Michelle My Bell
How do you ensure they don't fall off?
Miss Marple
I didn't have trouble with them not sticking. I used the colored rectangles that are about an 1 x .5 inch. I sometimes had to cut them to fit esp. for the really narrow spine books.
Murphy101
I went over them with a piece of good quality tape. Or you could by the colored tape like marple did. Mine were done on a whim with what I had on hand. :)
