Questions about the "Annotated" series of children's classics from Norton ("The Annotated Secret Garden", etc.)

Are the notes in these veering toward an older audience? Or a more liberal type audience? The Uncle Tom's Cabin one seemed in the description to crow about how the commentary addresses how the book has had an effect on minority groups today, like gays, and gender issues, and it talked about the sexuality between Uncle Tom and Little Eva, etc.

 

I really don't want a debate-just wondering if this would be ok for a conservative family. Thanks :)

Doesn't sound that suitable for the age I was when I read Uncle Tom's cabin.

Look out for the old Educator Classic Library series. Good annotations at an appropriate level. Usually a dollar or two per.
