daijobu
Does anyone have experience with the Future City Competition? Dd12 is thinking about starting a homeschool team, but I don't know much about it. I'd love to know: How homeschool friendly is it? What is the time commitment for students and parent-volunteers? How much physical space do I need in my home for the model city? Did you think it was a worthwhile activity and why? Is there anything else a new team ought to know? Thanks for your help! Luckymama
I'm only familiar with it from a school perspective, sorry! I do know that the group usually spends two after school afternoons per week on their project (3-4:30), with additional time by individuals at home. Dd's good friend has definitely enjoyed the process. The team had a very strong, organized leader for the first four years (?) and usually did very well. I don't know how it is run now since her youngest graduated.
Lilaclady
I can only answer your first question, our local homeschool group had a team that participated for the first time last year and they did well so I will say it is homeschool friendly.
