A home for their hearts
I posted this on the Logic board but haven't gotten any replies. So I'm trying here. ;) I'm using Winston Grammar Basic with my dd13. She is doing well with, however I find the Teacher's Manual to be a little lacking. Sometimes when she has a question about a word if I don't know the answer, there isn't a lot of hellp in the TM. I thought maybe having a grammar reference book would help. Any suggestions? Hunter
I really like Writer's Express. It's supposed to be for younger students, but so VERY often, what I need to know is in THIS book and NOT the high school level Writer's Inc. This book and I are becoming fast friends! Ellie
Both ABeka and Rod and Staff have grammar handbooks. I still refer to them. :-)
tonersl
I really like the English Handbook from Christian Light Education http://www.clp.org/p...sh_handbook_767 While it is meant to be used with their LA program, it is a great general resource for any grammar program. edeemarie
I use the Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation as a reference. It even has quizzes to check understanding and examples for every concept listed.

I really like this book too. Also OP---you can look into Nitty Griity Grammar and I think Woe Is I Jr is a great grammar read aloud for that age. Kathie in VA
Harvey's Elementary Grammar is a small book that cover quite a lot of grammar. I also like to refer to Mary Daly's First Book of Diagramming ... the whole book is example of diagrams and the last section has the explanations and lessons which refer back to the pages with the diagrams.
