Dr. Hive: Nut allergy question

In my old age, I think I might have a nut allergy. Or maybe I'm overthinking it.

I have noticed that when I eat Brazil nuts--my favorite--my tongue feels sort of funny, as if I have burned it on hot tea. Not bad, you understand, but definitely *there*. Recently, I feel that same way when I eat cashews and almonds--not sure if one or both is the problem, because they're in a tasty cranberry-raisin trail mix.

Does that sound like a nut allergy? If so, do I talk to my doctor about allergy testing?

Glad you made an appointment. My dd's nut allergy started with a funny feeling in her mouth. It continued to get worse although her initial nut allergy skin test was negative. She's now in the anaphylactic range for reactions. GL and please avoid nuts until after you see your doctor.
