Options for Spanish 2

Recommended Posts

My daughter us currently taking Spanish 1 using Rosetta Stone through an online charter school. We have decided to take a different path and homeschool a little more independently next year. Does anyone have any curriculum recommendations for her second year of Spanish, if we decide not to continue with Rosetta Stone? I'm wondering if we should just stick with Rosetta Stone so we don't have to worry about bridging any gaps. Any thoughts?

Since no one else has responded, I'll throw out a few options that are mentioned frequently here:

Breaking the Barrier - they have a standard book option or a new ebook I-pad app.

Homeschool Spanish Academy - live online tutoring at a reasonable price

Spanish at OSU - self-paced online language program

Destinos - video series supp. with audio and workbooks

Visual Link Spanish - software program

BJU Spanish with Online or DVD instruction - Pre-recorded daily teacher led classes

Many of the online academies have language instruction: Landry, Veritas, Potters, Scholars Online

If you decide to continue with Rosetta Stone, you might check out MFW's daily lesson guide to using it for full high school credit.

I don't know if you will be able to easily do

BJU Spanish 2 if all you've done is Rosetta Stone since you have

no grammar experience.

If $ is not an issue, buy BJU Spanish 1 *and* BJU Spanish 2.

There is some overlap. Then you can pick the subjects you

can handle and do more BJU Spanish 1 if the BJU Spanish 2 is too hard.

BJU Spanish 2 does tell you more verb tenses so it's more satisfying.

BJU is my favorite Spanish curriculum. There are a few bits that you may

want to skip (the dialogues tend to be boring), but I supplement with outside

readings.

If you decide to go the BJU route and you don't need to start right away, you might wait for their Dec/Jan. sale. The last two years they've offered online access to their classes for only $99 for one year instead of the usual $299.
